Re: FINAL FANTASY
okay so.... i finally grab a copy of FF XIII (yes ima slowpoke ive just played this game) and im soooooooooo very confused right now. the game seems to throw me smack dab in the middle of all this fal'cie l'cie cocoon purge pulse bla bla bla thing when i have no clue what these things are.
so far, only motivation that keeps me going are the gorgeous graphics and 1080p display
btw i hope this game has more to it than running inside a corridor and battling monsters aaaaaaall the way.

Re: FINAL FANTASY
Unless you have the weak attention span of some average gamer , then here is the most simple answer of all to know any little extra detail and get some understanding of some things....... the "Datalog".
Quite alot of complaints from people I see about this game is mostly their own because either they don't pay attention to what is going on, skip the cutscenes or just don't read the Datalog at all.
I take it you are playing the PS3 version because then you will enjoy the 1080p-ness of the CGI cutscenes especially.
And well unfortunately, majority of the game is running down crappy corridors and it is essentially a slow ass giant tutorial to get you to know the battle system. Chapter 11 onwards is when you at least have a bit more freedom.

Re: FINAL FANTASY
Well this is a JRPG, you are going to have to invest time into it and it's your own fault now BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
And why are they fighting, well you only just started right? That means you better keep playing to understand . And there is alot of religious undertones in this game too.
To sum it up...
fal'Cie are the "God" machimas that keep the world (Cocoon) afloat and each one serves a different purpose i.e. one produces energy, one produces food, etc etc.
l'Cie are the humans who were branded by a fal'Cie to serve a purpose, which is called a "Focus". Once it is completed, they will gain immortality by entering a crystal sleep.

Re: FINAL FANTASY
That day is long gone and even then when you look at the Final Fantasy's from and since the PlayStation era and think about it, they've all started from a certain point within the story where the more you play and progress, things will be eventually revealed. It's just how the series is now, interactive storytelling.Vonman wrote:@Hentai

The start of FFXIII is more or less Square Enix trying to mimic the opening of FFVII in a way.

Re: FINAL FANTASY
Well I must shamefully admit I didn't get a smurf of the story, basically cause after a couple of (IMO) useless, boring, filled with empty characters movies, I skipped them all and tried to play...but it was basically "play 3 minutes, skip, play 2 minutes, skip, play 3 minutes skip, repeat..."soooo, nope, I didn't like what I played of FF XIII XD even if that's only the first 6 or 7 hours and that, in a FF, represents 4% of the game...but well, in 30 minutes of FF X I was already crying at Auron's epicness and getting curious at what in the blue hell was Sin...so I know it's just a matter of taste : I hate design, characters, gameplay, fighting system of FF XIII, so of course I can't get in the story XD I won't rant and jump on people here who like the game, thank GAWD human beings have different tastes lol
